Frank Njuguna - Njia Ya Kweli Lyrics

Lyrics

Njia Ya Kweli

Utukufu na sifa nizako

Mungu wa miujiza mfalme wa majira yote

Njia ya kweli na uzima ni wewe

Utukufu na sifa ni zako

Mungu wa miujiza mfalme wa majira yote

Njia ya kweli na uzima ni wewe

Wewe pekee njia ya ukweli

Wewe pekee njia ya uzima

Jemedari wa vita ukashinda kifo

Jemedari wa vita kasema yote yamekwisha

Wewe pekee njia ya ukweli

Wewe pekee njia ya uzima

Jemedari wa vita ukashinda kifo

Jemedari wa vita kasema yote yamekwisha

Niko huru

Yesu nakwamini nimekuona thabiti

Yesu Yesu uthamani ahadi zako kweli x2

Kweli

Meaning & Inspiration

I’ve been sitting here with this song for a bit, thinking about how Frank Njuguna sings about Jesus being the "Njia ya kweli," the way of truth. It’s hard not to think about John 14:6 immediately. When he sings that Jesus is the only way and the life, he’s not just using nice words; he’s hitting on that exclusive claim that makes the whole faith what it is. If he isn't the way, then the whole thing falls apart, right? It’s a heavy thought, but it’s right there in the text.

What really caught me, though, was the way he connects the cross to the victory over death. He calls Him "Jemedari wa vita," this commander of war who won against death itself, and then he brings in "yote yamekwisha"—it is finished. It’s sobering. I find myself wondering if I actually live like I believe that. If the battle is won and the work is finished, why do I spend so much time acting like I still have to earn my own standing? The lyrics point back to that moment on the cross when everything shifted, and it feels like a call to stop striving and just accept that freedom he mentions.

I’m trying to process if this captures the full weight of the Gospel. It’s bold to say "Niko huru," I am free, but is that freedom just a feeling, or is it the solid reality he’s singing about when he says he's found Jesus "thabiti," firm or stable? It’s funny how a simple song can make me stop and ask whether I’m leaning on that stability or just singing along because the melody works. The promise of his truth is either everything or it's nothing, and honestly, some days it’s harder to rest in that than others.
