Meaning & Inspiration
“Pokea Sifa” by Eunice Njeri is a Swahili worship song whose title means “Receive the praise.” The refrain asks God to accept praise, answered by the congregation with “Ewe Mungu” and a chain of Hallelujah and Amen. The first verse calls the gathering of the saints to sing together with the angels and invites the mountains, animals, valleys, young and old, children, and the earth and sky to rejoice in Jesus. That list is close to Psalm 148:7-12, where creation and every age are called to praise.
The second verse becomes personal. Jesus shines and glows, and the singer says that He has lifted, received, changed, forgiven, and rescued from death. The language of forgiveness and rescue is close to Psalm 103:2-4.
The final verse names God as Elohim, Yahweh, Jehovah the healer, and victorious Savior, then the song returns to the refrain and ends with repeated Amen and Hallelujah, like Psalm 150:6. The message is that all creation and the believer’s own story belong in praise.
