Lyrics

Hutimiza maagano

Wewe ni Mungu usiyeshindwa

Hutimiza maagano

Wewe ni Mungu usiyeshindwa

Iyelele ma, Iyelele ma

Iyelele ma, Iyelele ma

Hutimiza maagano

Wewe ni Mungu usiyeshindwa

Unaweza unatosha

Ukisema unafanya

Unaweza unatosha

Ukisema unatenda

Mwaminifu ndiwe, mkamilifu ndiwe

Ukisema unafanya, ukiahidi unatenda

Mwaminifu ndiwe, mkamilifu ndiwe

Ukisema unafanya, ukiahidi unatenda

Bwana waweza, Yesu waweza

Twakuamini twakuamini

Bwana waweza, Yesu waweza

Twakuamini twakuamini

Meaning & Inspiration

I keep playing this over, just thinking about that phrase, Hutimiza maagano. It’s heavy when you realize what it’s actually claiming about God. He’s the one who fulfills His covenants. It sounds so simple, but when you look at how much we break our side of things, it’s wild to think He’s still the one standing by His word. It takes me back to that idea in Numbers where it says God isn't a man that He should lie. If He says something, it’s already as good as done. He isn't just someone who makes promises; He’s the only one capable of keeping them.

There’s this part in the song, ukisema unafanya, which is just saying if He speaks, He acts. It’s like when Isaiah talked about God’s word going out and not returning empty. It’s supposed to produce exactly what He sent it to do. Sometimes I look at my own life and wonder if I really believe that, or if I’m just singing it because the melody is catchy. If He is truly the one who fulfills these covenants, then my anxiety about the future feels a bit misplaced. But then I wrestle with it, because if He’s that powerful, why does it feel like things are falling apart half the time? Maybe I’m the one missing the point, looking at my circumstances instead of looking at the character of the One who doesn't fail.

It’s bold to call Him mkamilifu, meaning perfect. We throw that word around a lot in church, but if He’s actually perfect, there’s no room for Him to change His mind or get tired of us. He just keeps going. The song leans into this idea that because He’s faithful, we can trust Him. It’s almost unnerving, honestly. Does He really work like that? If He said it, is it already locked in, regardless of what I see in front of me? It makes me wonder if I'm even capable of resting in a promise, or if I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop.
