Meaning & Inspiration
“Nani Kama Wewe” by Eunice Njeri is a Swahili worship song whose title asks, “Who is like You?” The chorus pairs that question with a personal response: “Nakuinua Mungu wangu leo,” meaning “I lift You up, my God, today,” and “Nakupenda,” “I love You.” The verses move into bowing at God’s feet, lifting hands, and giving Him honor and glory.
The second verse names God as the God of widows and the almighty for orphans, and the later verses call Him a comforter with no equal in earth, heaven or below. The ending repeats “Amina milele,” or “Amen forever,” and calls on the names Jehova Shallom, Jehova Nissi, Jehova Elshadai and Adonai.
The question is close to Exodus 15:11 and Psalm 113:5, which ask who is like the Lord, and the care for widows and orphans recalls Psalm 68:5. The song is simple, repeated and devotional, built for congregational worship.
