Meaning & Inspiration
“Spirit (Live)” by Dunsin Oyekan is a long live worship moment built around a prayer for the Holy Spirit. It opens with a vow of surrender, “I will only go where You want me to go, I will only do what You want me to do,” then names the Spirit of light and of truth. A short bridge adds the Yoruba phrase “Adaba mimo,” which the lyrics translate as Holy Dove.
The middle of the recording is spoken exhortation. The leader asks people to pray in the Holy Ghost, quotes the angel’s words to Mary, “The Holy Ghost will come upon you and the power of the Most High,” and invites the room to get into the river. The imagery of a river that rises from ankle to knee to waist is close to Ezekiel 47, and the repeated “fill us afresh” recalls Ephesians 5:18.
The declarations of a river and fire within, and the closing “open up,” make it a participatory prayer. Its focus is dependence on the Spirit.
