Meaning & Inspiration

I keep thinking about the way this song talks about God being a "game changer." It sounds a little strange at first, maybe even a bit modern or casual for how we usually talk about the Almighty, but then I think about the crossing of the Red Sea—that "ocean divider" she mentions—and it really does change the entire state of things for a people who were trapped. It feels like she is saying that when He shows up, the rules of the situation shift completely. It’s that idea that what was impossible for me, like the song says, is suddenly within reach because He moved first. It kind of hits that nerve of grace where you realize you couldn't have worked your way into the victory on your own, which feels solid, biblically speaking.

But then I stop and wonder about the focus here. It’s heavy on the personal win, the "victory parade," and the way my eyes and hands get to experience it. It makes me check my own heart. Is my focus on the fact that I’m winning, or on the One who brought the win? The song says the glory of the Lord is on display, and I suppose if the parade is really about Him, then it’s fine. But I have to be careful not to make the gospel just about my personal breakthroughs. The prophets were always warning about people who wanted the blessing without the holiness, or who thought the "victory" meant their lives would just be a constant parade. Yet, when she calls Him the "great physician" and the "forever the same," it anchors me back to the Jesus who healed and remained unchangeable even when the crowds turned away. It feels like a messy mix of true worship and that human itch to feel like things are going our way. I’m left wondering if a life truly surrendered, like the album title suggests, always looks like a victory parade, or if sometimes it just looks like staying faithful when the gates aren't opening.
