Katika siku zile, kwa vile ulivyokuwa mkuu tena ule mkutano, nao wamekosa kitu cha kula, akawaita wanafunzi wake, akawaambia,
In those days the crowd once again became very large, and they had nothing to eat. Jesus called the disciples to Him and said,

Nawahurumia mkutano kwa sababu yapata siku tatu wamekaa nami, wala hawana kitu cha kula;
“I have compassion for this crowd, because they have already been with Me three days and have nothing to eat.

nami nikiwaaga waende zao nyumbani kwao hali wanafunga, watazimia njiani; na baadhi yao wametoka mbali.
If I send them home hungry, they will faint along the way. For some of them have come a great distance.”

Wanafunzi wake wakamjibu, Je! Ataweza wapi mtu kuwashibisha hawa mikate hapa nyikani?
His disciples replied, “Where in this desolate place could anyone find enough bread to feed all these people?”

Akawauliza, Mnayo mikate mingapi? Wakasema, Saba,
“How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied.

Akawaagiza mkutano waketi chini; akaitwaa ile mikate saba, akashukuru, akaimega, akawapa wanafunzi wake wawaandikie; wakawaandikia mkutano.
And He instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then He took the seven loaves, gave thanks and broke them, and gave them to His disciples to set before the people. And they distributed them to the crowd.

Walikuwa na visamaki vichache; akavibarikia, akasema wawaandikie na hivyo pia.
They also had a few small fish, and Jesus blessed them and ordered that these be set before them as well.

Wakala, wakashiba, wakakusanya mabaki ya vipande vya mikate makanda saba.
The people ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

Na watu waliokula wapata elfu nne. Akawaaga.
And about four thousand men were present. And when Jesus had dismissed the crowd,

Mara akapanda chomboni pamoja na wanafunzi wake, akaenda pande za Dalmanutha.
He immediately got into the boat with His disciples and went to the district of Dalmanutha.

Wakatokea Mafarisayo, wakaanza kuhojiana naye; wakitafuta kwake ishara itokayo mbinguni; wakimjaribu.
Then the Pharisees came and began to argue with Jesus, testing Him by demanding from Him a sign from heaven.

Akaugua rohoni mwake, akasema, Mbona kizazi hiki chatafuta ishara? Amin, nawaambieni, Hakitapewa ishara kizazi hiki.
Jesus sighed deeply in His spirit and said, “Why does this generation demand a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation.”

Akawaacha, akapanda tena chomboni, akaenda zake hata ng'ambo.
And He left them, got back into the boat, and crossed to the other side.
14
Wakasahau kuchukua mikate, wala chomboni hawana ila mkate mmoja tu.
Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.
15
Akawaagiza, akasema, Angalieni, jihadharini na chachu ya Mafarisayo na chachu ya Herode.
“Watch out!” He cautioned them. “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of Herod.”

Wakabishana wao kwa wao, kwa kuwa hawana mikate.
So they began to discuss with one another the fact that they had no bread.
17
Naye Yesu akatambua, akawaambia, Mbona mnabishana kwa sababu hamna mikate? Hamfahamu bado, wala hamjaelewa? Je! Mioyo yenu ni mizito?
Aware of their conversation, Jesus asked them, “Why are you debating about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Do you have such hard hearts?

Mna macho, hamwoni; mna masikio, hamsikii? Wala hamkumbuki?
‘Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear?’ And do you not remember?
19
Nilipoivunja ile mikate mitano na kuwapa wale elfu tano, mlichukua vikapu vingapi vimejaa vipande? Wakamwambia, Kumi na viwili.
When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of broken pieces did you collect?” “Twelve,” they answered.
20
Na ile saba kuwapa wale elfu nne, mlichukua makanda mangapi yamejaa vipande? Wakamwambia, Saba.
“And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of broken pieces did you collect?” “Seven,” they said.

Akawaambia, Hamjafahamu bado?
Then He asked them, “Do you still not understand?”
22
Wakafika Bethsaida, wakamletea kipofu, wakamsihi amguse.
When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.
23
Akamshika mkono yule kipofu, akamchukua nje ya kijiji, akamtemea mate ya macho, akamwekea mikono yake, akamwuliza, Waona kitu?
So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then He spit on the man’s eyes and placed His hands on him. “Can you see anything?” He asked.

Akatazama juu, akasema, Naona watu kama miti, inakwenda.
The man looked up and said, “I can see the people, but they look like trees walking around.”
25
Ndipo akaweka tena mikono yake juu ya macho yake, naye akatazama sana; akawa mzima, akaona vyote waziwazi.
Once again Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes, and when he opened them his sight was restored, and he could see everything clearly.

Akampeleka nyumbani kwake, akisema, Hata kijijini usiingie.
Jesus sent him home and said, “Do not go back into the village.”
27
Akatoka Yesu na wanafunzi wake, wakaenda kwenye vijiji vya Kaisaria-Filipi; na njiani akawauliza wanafunzi wake, akasema, Watu huninena mimi kuwa ni nani?
Then Jesus and His disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way, He questioned His disciples: “Who do people say I am?”

Wakamjibu, Yohana Mbatizaji; wengine, Eliya; wengine, Mmojawapo wa manabii.
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”

Naye akawauliza, Na ninyi mnasema ya kuwa mimi ni nani? Petro akamjibu, akamwambia, Wewe ndiwe Kristo.
“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”

Akawaonya wasimwambie mtu habari zake.
And Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about Him.
31
Akaanza kuwafundisha kwamba imempasa Mwana wa Adamu kupatikana na mateso mengi, na kukataliwa na wazee, na wakuu wa makuhani, na waandishi, na kuuawa, na baada ya siku tatu kufufuka.
Then He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and that He must be killed and after three days rise again.

Naye alikuwa akinena neno hilo waziwazi. Petro akamchukua, akaanza kumkemea.
He spoke this message quite frankly, and Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.
33
Akageuka, akawatazama wanafunzi wake, akamkemea Petro, akasema, Nenda nyuma yangu, Shetani; maana huyawazi yaliyo ya Mungu, bali ya wanadamu.
But Jesus, turning and looking at His disciples, rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind Me, Satan! For you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”

Akawaita mkutano pamoja na wanafunzi wake, akawaambia, Mtu ye yote akitaka kunifuata na ajikane mwenyewe, ajitwike na msalaba wake, anifuate.
Then Jesus called the crowd to Him along with His disciples, and He told them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.

Kwa kuwa mtu atakaye kuiponya nafsi yake, ataiangamiza, na mtu atakayeiangamiza nafsi yake kwa ajili yangu na kwa ajili ya Injili, huyu ataisalimisha.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and for the gospel will save it.

Kwa kuwa itamfaidia mtu nini kuupata ulimwengu wote, akipata hasara ya nafsi yake?
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?
37
Ama mtu atoe nini badala ya nafsi yake?
Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
38
Maana kila mtu atakayenionea haya mimi, na maneno yangu, katika kizazi hiki cha uzinzi na dhambi, Mwana wa Adamu atamwonea haya mtu huyo, atakapokuja katika utukufu wa Baba yake pamoja na malaika watakatifu.
If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in His Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
