Ikawa, mfalme alipokuwa akikaa katika nyumba yake, hapo Bwana alipomstarehesha, asiudhiwe na adui zake waliomzunguka pande zote,
After the king had settled into his palace and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies around him,

mfalme akamwambia Nathani, nabii, Angalia sasa, mimi ninakaa katika nyumba ya mierezi, bali sanduku la Mungu linakaa ndani ya mapazia.
he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”

Nathani akamwambia mfalme, Haya, fanya yote yaliyomo moyoni mwako; maana Bwana yu pamoja nawe.
And Nathan replied to the king, “Go and do all that is in your heart, for the LORD is with you.”

Ikawa usiku uo huo, neno la Bwana likamfikia Nathani kusema,
But that night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying,

Enenda, ukamwambie mtumishi wangu, Daudi, Bwana asema hivi, Je! Wewe utanijengea nyumba, nikae ndani yake?
“Go and tell My servant David that this is what the LORD says: Are you the one to build for Me a house to dwell in?

Kwa maana mimi sikukaa ndani ya nyumba, tangu siku ile niliyowatoa wana wa Israeli katika Misri, hata leo, lakini nimekaa katika hema na maskani.
For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt until this day, but I have moved about with a tent as My dwelling.

Mahali mwote nilimokwenda na wana wa Israeli wote, je! Nimesema neno lo lote na mtu ye yote wa waamuzi wa Israeli, niliyemwagiza kuwalisha watu wangu Israeli, nikisema, Mbona hamkunijengea nyumba ya mierezi?
In all My journeys with all the Israelites, have I ever asked any of the leaders I appointed to shepherd My people Israel, ‘Why haven’t you built Me a house of cedar?’

Basi, sasa, mwambie mtumishi wangu, Daudi, maneno haya, Bwana wa majeshi asema hivi, Nalikutwaa katika zizi la kondoo, katika kuwaandama kondoo, ili uwe mkuu juu ya watu wangu, juu ya Israeli;
Now then, you are to tell My servant David that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the flock, to be the ruler over My people Israel.

nami nimekuwa pamoja nawe kila ulikokwenda, na kuwakatilia mbali adui zako wote mbele yako; nami nitakufanyia jina kuu, kama jina la wakuu walioko duniani.
I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make for you a name like that of the greatest in the land.

Tena nitawaagizia mahali watu wangu Israeli, nami nitawapanda, wapate kukaa mahali pao wenyewe, wasiondolewe tena; wala wana wa uovu hawatawatesa tena, kama hapo kwanza;
And I will provide a place for My people Israel and will plant them so that they may dwell in a place of their own and be disturbed no more. No longer will the sons of wickedness oppress them as they did at the beginning

naam, kama vilivyokuwa tangu siku ile nilipowaamuru waamuzi, wawe juu ya watu wangu Israeli; nami nitakustarehesha mbele ya adui zako wote. Tena Bwana anakuambia ya kwamba Bwana atakujengea nyumba.
and have done since the day I appointed judges over My people Israel. I will give you rest from all your enemies. The LORD declares to you that He Himself will establish a house for you.

Nawe siku zako zitakapotimia, ukalala na baba zako, nitainua mzao wako nyuma yako, atakayetoka viunoni mwako, nami nitaufanya imara ufalme wake.
And when your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom.

Yeye ndiye atakayejenga nyumba kwa jina langu, nacho kiti cha enzi cha ufalme wake nitakifanya imara milele.
He will build a house for My Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
14
Mimi nitakuwa baba yake, naye atakuwa mwanangu; akitenda maovu nitamwadhibu kwa fimbo ya binadamu na kwa mapigo ya wanadamu;
I will be his Father, and he will be My son. When he does wrong, I will discipline him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.

lakini fadhili zangu hazitamwondoka, kama vile nilivyomwondolea Sauli, niliyemwondoa mbele yako.
But My loving devotion will never be removed from him as I removed it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.
16
Na nyumba yako, na ufalme wako, vitathibitishwa milele mbele yako. Nacho kiti chako kitafanywa imara milele.
Your house and kingdom will endure forever before Me, and your throne will be established forever.”
17
Kwa maneno hayo yote, na kwa maono hayo yote, ndivyo Nathani alivyonena na Daudi.
So Nathan relayed to David all the words of this entire revelation.
18
Ndipo Daudi, mfalme, akaingia, akaketi mbele za Bwana, akasema, Mimi ni nani, Bwana MUNGU, na nyumba yangu ni nini, hata umenileta hata hapa?
Then King David went in, sat before the LORD, and said, “Who am I, O Lord GOD, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?

Tena jambo hili lilikuwa dogo machoni pako, Ee Bwana MUNGU; hata umeleta habari ya nyumba yangu mimi, mtumwa wako, kwa miaka mingi inayokuja baadaye; na hayo kwa namna ya kibinadamu, Ee Bwana MUNGU.
And as if this was a small thing in Your eyes, O Lord GOD, You have also spoken about the future of the house of Your servant. Is this Your custom with man, O Lord GOD?

Na mimi, Daudi, nikuambie nini tena zaidi? Iwapo wewe umemjua mtumwa wako, Ee Bwana MUNGU.
What more can David say to You? For You know Your servant, O Lord GOD.
21
Kwa ajili ya neno lako, na kwa moyo wako mwenyewe, umetenda makuu hayo yote, ili umjulishe mtumwa wako.
For the sake of Your word and according to Your own heart, You have accomplished this great thing and revealed it to Your servant.
22
Kwa hiyo, wewe ndiwe mkuu, Ee Bwana Mungu, kwa maana hakuna kama wewe, wala hapana Mungu mwingine ila wewe, kwa kadiri tulivyosikia kwa masikio yetu.
How great You are, O Lord GOD! For there is none like You, and there is no God but You, according to everything we have heard with our own ears.

Tena ni taifa lipi duniani lililo kama watu wako, kama Israeli, ambalo Mungu alikwenda kuwakomboa kwa ajili yake, wawe watu wake mwenyewe, akajifanyie jina, na kutenda mambo makuu kwa ajili yenu, na mambo ya kuogofya kwa ajili ya nchi yako, mbele ya watu wako, uliowakomboa kutoka Misri wawe wako, kutoka katika mataifa na miungu yao.
And who is like Your people Israel—the one nation on earth whom God went out to redeem as a people for Himself and to make a name for Himself? You performed great and awesome wonders by driving out nations and their gods from before Your people, whom You redeemed for Yourself from Egypt.

Nawe ulijifanyia imara watu wako Israeli, wawe watu wako milele; nawe, Bwana, umekuwa Mungu wao.
For You have established Your people Israel as Your very own forever, and You, O LORD, have become their God.
25
Basi sasa, Ee Bwana Mungu, neno lile ulilolinena katika habari za mtumwa wako, na katika habari za nyumba yangu, ulifanye imara milele, ukatende kama ulivyosema.
And now, O LORD God, confirm forever the word You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house. Do as You have promised,

Jina lako na litukuzwe milele, kusema, Bwana wa majeshi ndiye Mungu juu ya Israeli; na nyumba ya mtumwa wako, Daudi, itakuwa imara mbele zako.
so that Your name will be magnified forever when it is said, ‘The LORD of Hosts is God over Israel.’ And the house of Your servant David will be established before You.

Kwa kuwa wewe, Bwana wa majeshi, Mungu wa Israeli umenifunulia mimi, mtumwa wako, ukisema, Nitakujengea nyumba; kwa hiyo mimi, mtumwa wako, nimeona vema moyoni mwangu nikuombe dua hii.
For You, O LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, have revealed this to Your servant when You said, ‘I will build a house for you.’ Therefore Your servant has found the courage to offer this prayer to You.

Na sasa, Ee Bwana MUNGU, wewe ndiwe Mungu, na maneno yako ndiyo kweli, nawe umemwahidia mtumwa wako jambo hili jema
And now, O Lord GOD, You are God! Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant.
29
basi, sasa, uwe radhi, ukaibarikie nyumba ya mtumwa wako, ipate kudumu milele mbele zako; kwa maana wewe, Ee Bwana MUNGU, umelinena na kwa baraka yako nyumba ya mtumwa wako na ibarikiwe milele. </p>
Now therefore, may it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You. For You, O Lord GOD, have spoken, and with Your blessing the house of Your servant will be blessed forever.”
