Basi Yoramu mwana wa Ahabu alianza kutawala juu ya Israeli huko Samaria katika mwaka wa kumi na nane wa Yehoshafati mfalme wa Yuda ,akatawala miaka kumi na miwili.
In the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat’s reign over Judah, Jehoram son of Ahab became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria twelve years.

Akafanya yaliyo mabaya machoni pa Bwana; ila si kama baba yake na kama mama yake; maana akaiondoa ile nguzo ya Baali aliyoifanya baba yake.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as his father and mother had done. He removed the sacred pillar of Baal that his father had made.

Pamoja na hayo alishikamana na dhambi za Yeroboamu mwana wa Nebati, ambazo kwa hizo aliwakosesha Israeli; wala hakuziacha.
Nevertheless, he clung to the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit; he did not turn away from them.

Basi Mesha, mfalme wa Moabu, alikuwa mfuga kondoo; naye alikuwa akimlipa mfalme wa Israeli sufu ya wana-kondoo elfu mia, na ya kondoo waume elfu mia.
Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder, and he would render to the king of Israel a hundred thousand lambs and the wool of a hundred thousand rams.

Lakini ikawa, Ahabu alipokufa, mfalme wa Moabu akamwasi mfalme wa Israeli.
But after the death of Ahab, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

Akatoka wakati ule ule mfalme Yoramu katika Samaria, akawahesabu Israeli wote.
So at that time King Jehoram set out from Samaria and mobilized all Israel.

Akaenda akatuma kwa Yehoshafati mfalme wa Yuda, akasema, Mfalme wa Moabu ameniasi; je! Utakwenda pamoja nami tupigane na Moabu? Akasema, Nitakwenda; mimi ni kama wewe, watu wangu ni kama watu wako, farasi zangu ni kama farasi zako.
And he sent a message to Jehoshaphat king of Judah: “The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me to fight against Moab?” “I will go,” replied Jehoshaphat. “I am as you are, my people are your people, and my horses are your horses.”

Then he asked, “Which way shall we go up?” “By way of the Desert of Edom,” replied Joram.

So the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of Edom set out, and after they had traveled a roundabout route for seven days, they had no water for their army or for their animals.

Mfalme wa Israeli akasema, Ole wetu! Kwani Bwana amewakutanisha hawa wafalme watatu, awaue mkononi mwa Moabu.
“Alas,” said the king of Israel, “for the LORD has summoned these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab!”

Lakini Yehoshafati akasema, Je! Hapana hapa nabii wa Bwana, ili tumwulize Bwana kwa yeye? Akajibu mtumishi mmoja wa mfalme wa Israeli, akasema, Yupo hapa Elisha mwana wa Shafati, aliyekuwa akimimina maji juu ya mikono yake Eliya.
But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no prophet of the LORD here? Let us inquire of the LORD through him.” And one of the servants of the king of Israel answered, “Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”

Yehoshafati akasema, Neno la Bwana analo huyu. Basi mfalme wa Israeli, na Yehoshafati, na mfalme wa Edomu, wakamshukia.
Jehoshaphat affirmed, “The word of the LORD is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

Elisha akamwambia mfalme wa Israeli, Nina nini mimi nawe? Uende kwa manabii wa babayo, na manabii wa mamayo. Mfalme wa Israeli akamwambia, La, sivyo; kwa kuwa Bwana amewakutanisha hawa wafalme watatu, awaue mkononi mwa Moabu.
Elisha, however, said to the king of Israel, “What have we to do with each other? Go to the prophets of your father and of your mother!” “No,” replied the king of Israel, “for it is the LORD who has summoned these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”

Elisha akasema, Kama Bwana wa majeshi aishivyo, ambaye nimesimama mbele zake, kama singemwangalia uso wake Yehoshafati mfalme wa Yuda, singekutazama, wala kuonana nawe.
Then Elisha said, “As surely as the LORD of Hosts lives, before whom I stand, were it not for my regard for the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you or acknowledge you.

Ila sasa niletee mpiga kinanda. Ikawa, mpiga kinanda alipokipiga, mkono wa Bwana ukamjia juu yake.
But now, bring me a harpist.” And while the harpist played, the hand of the LORD came upon Elisha

Akasema, Bwana asema hivi, Fanyeni bonde hili lijae mahandaki.
and he said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Dig this valley full of ditches.’
17
Kwa kuwa Bwana asema hivi, Hamutauona upepo, wala hamtaiona mvua, ila bonde hilo litajaa maji; nanyi mtakunywa, ninyi, na ng'ombe zenu, na wanyama wenu.
For the LORD says, ‘You will not see wind or rain, but the valley will be filled with water, and you will drink—you and your cattle and your animals.’

Na jambo hili ni jepesi machoni pa Bwana; pia atawatia Wamoabi mikononi mwenu.
This is a simple matter in the sight of the LORD, and He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.
19
Nanyi mtapiga kila mji wenye boma, na kila mji ulio mzuri, na kila mti mwema mtaukata, na chemchemi zote za maji mtaziziba, na kila mahali palipo pema mtapaharibu kwa mawe.
And you shall attack every fortified city and every city of importance. You shall cut down every good tree, stop up every spring, and ruin every good field with stones.”

Ikawa asubuhi, wakati wa kutoa sadaka ya unga, tazama, maji yakaja kwa njia ya Edomu, hata nchi ikajaa maji.
The next morning, at the time of the morning sacrifice, water suddenly flowed from the direction of Edom and filled the land.

Basi Wamoabi wote waliposikia ya kuwa wafalme hao wamekwea ili kupigana nao, walijikusanya pamoja, wote wawezao kuvaa silaha, na wenye umri zaidi, wakasimama mpakani.
Now all the Moabites had heard that the kings had come up to fight against them. So all who could bear arms, young and old, were summoned and stationed at the border.

Wakaamka asubuhi na mapema, na hilo jua likameta-meta juu ya maji, na Wamoabi wakayaona yale maji yaliyowaelekea kuwa ni mekundu kama damu.
When they got up early in the morning, the sun was shining on the water, and it looked as red as blood to the Moabites across the way.

Wakasema, Ndiyo damu hii; bila shaka hao wafalme wameharibika, wamepigana kila mtu na mwenziwe; basi sasa, enyi Wamoabi, nyara hizo!
“This is blood!” they exclaimed. “The kings have clashed swords and slaughtered one another. Now to the plunder, Moab!”

Hata walipokuja matuoni kwa Israeli, Waisraeli wakainuka wakawapiga Wamoabi, hata wakakimbia mbele yao; wakaendelea wakiwapiga-piga Wamoabi hata kwao.
But when the Moabites came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and attacked them, and they fled before them. So the Israelites invaded their land and struck down the Moabites.

Wakaibomoa ile miji; wakatupa katika kila mahali palipo pema kila mtu jiwe lake, wakapajaza; wakaziziba chemchemi zote za maji, wakaikata miti yote iliyo mizuri; mpaka katika Kir-haresethi tu wakayasaza mawe yake; ila wenye kombeo wakauzunguka wakaupiga.
They destroyed the cities, and each man threw stones on every good field until it was covered. They stopped up every spring and cut down every good tree. Only Kir-haraseth was left with stones in place, but men with slings surrounded it and attacked it as well.

Naye mfalme wa Moabu alipoona ya kwamba ameshindwa vitani, alitwaa pamoja naye watu mia saba wenye kufuta panga ili wapenye hata kwa mfalme wa Edomu; wala hawakudiriki.
When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him seven hundred swordsmen to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not prevail.

Ndipo akamtwaa mwanawe wa kwanza, yeye ambaye angetawala mahali pake, akamtoa awe sadaka ya kuteketezwa juu ya ukuta. Kukawa hasira kuu juu ya Israeli; basi wakatoka kwake, wakarudi kwenda nchi yao wenyewe.
So he took his firstborn son, who was to succeed him, and offered him as a burnt offering on the city wall. And there was great fury against the Israelites, so they withdrew and returned to their own land.
