Lyrics
Verse 1
You're my guide, I'll abide in all your ways
The whisper, the wind that softly calls my name
Friend and comforter so true
Every step I'll take with you
Chorus
Holy Spirit, you move like the sea
Washing over the broken parts of me
Every shadow fades when you draw near
Your love is the fire that burns my fears [00:38]
Verse 2
What is best for me, I know
I am your son [01:17]
Chorus
Holy Spirit, you move like the sea
Washing over the broken parts of me
Every shadow fades when you draw near
Your love is the fire that burns my fears
Chorus
Holy Spirit, you move like the sea
Washing over the broken parts of me
Every shadow fades when you draw near
Your love is the fire that burns my fears
Bridge
You burn my fears
You burn, you burn my fears
You're at work inside of me
I walk inside of you
Chorus
Holy Spirit, you move like the sea
Washing over the broken parts of me
Every shadow fades when you draw near
Your love is the fire that burns my fears
Chorus
Holy Spirit, you move like the sea
Washing over the broken parts of me
Every shadow fades when you draw near
Your love is the fire that burns my fears

Meaning & Inspiration
Holy Spirit is a prayerful song about guidance, comfort, inner renewal, and freedom from fear. The Spirit is described as a faithful companion whose whisper leads each step and whose nearness reaches wounded places. Images of wind, sea, and fire convey movement and cleansing without turning the Spirit into an impersonal force; the lyrics continue to speak of relationship, trust, and abiding presence.
The image of wind recalls John 3:8, where the work of the Spirit is compared to wind. The title and the language of comfort also align with John 14:26, which presents the Holy Spirit as Helper and teacher. The claim that the Spirit is at work within may further echo Philippians 2:13, where God works in believers to shape desire and action. Across the repeated chorus, fear and shadow yield to divine nearness. The song therefore centers on a life guided from within, comforted in brokenness, and strengthened to walk in ongoing fellowship with the Spirit.
