Meaning & Inspiration
“The Lord Is With Me” by Red Rocks Worship is a song of courage drawn from hard experience. The first verse speaks of feeling the flame and wrestling the dark, then learning through scars how good grace can be. The second admits a low day, yet says God is still in control and the singer will get back up.
The chorus repeats “The Lord is with me, ever present in my hour of need.” The verse after it recalls that God never promised an easy fight, only to be at the singer’s side. This is close to Joshua 1:9 and Psalm 46:1.
The bridge uses the image of the fiery furnace: “I may be thrown in the fire, I’m gonna walk out,” and the heat of the flame is “nothing but smoke.” That recalls Daniel 3 and Isaiah 43:2, where God goes with His people through fire. The ending turns to direct address, saying that Jesus never leaves and never forsakes, which is close to Hebrews 13:5.
