Meaning & Inspiration
“Jesus Lamb of God” by Victor Thompson and Phil Thompson is a worship song that builds a list of names and works of Christ. It begins with “All of my worship belongs to You” and says that after searching the world, there is no one like Him and no other name like Jesus, Lamb of God. Heaven and earth are said to proclaim the same name.
The second part reads like a short creed. Jesus is named as God of creation, through whom all things were made, as in John 1:3, and as the one born of a virgin who fulfills the promise. He is also the Suffering Servant, the Resurrection and Life, the Word of the Father, the Son of Man, and the Lion and Lamb.
The lyric ends by calling Him Head of the Church and Lord of Heaven and Earth. Its focus stays on who Christ is, naming Him over and over, so that worship becomes a declaration of what Scripture says about Him.
