Meaning & Inspiration
“Habari Njema, Raha Yangu - Ndiyo Dhamana” by Solomon Mukubwa is a Swahili hymn-style song. The chorus is a short confession: good news, my joy, Jesus is my Savior. It follows each of the four verses, so the central message returns every time.
The first verse calls Jesus the assurance, says He gives the joys of heaven, and describes the singer as an heir of His salvation who was born of His Spirit. The second speaks of greeting Him with the heart and seeing Him as the singer’s joy, with angels sent to guard so that the singer is saved. The third says there is nothing against the singer, that light stays through the night, and that the Savior is the light.
The last verse gives up property and circumstance to Him and says the singer waits patiently until He calls. The themes are close to Ephesians 1:13-14, John 3:3-6 and Psalm 34:7, which speak of the promised inheritance, being born of the Spirit, and angels who guard. The song is a simple testimony.
