NewSong - Glory All Around Lyrics
Lyrics
There's no other place that I'd rather be Than right here with you and you here with me Surrounded by voices caught up in praise Gathered together to lift up one name
You don't need our invitation You're already here
Your glory all around Feels like heaven falling down Wherever you are is holy ground You're here with us now Lord it's your glory all around
Oh what a Savior, oh what a friend With arms open wide you welcome us in Here in your presence at your request Whatever you're asking my answer is "yes"
Your glory all around Feels like heaven falling down Wherever you are is holy ground You're here with us now Lord it's your glory all around
Here's our hallelujah To the only one who's worthy Standing in your presence Lord, we're in no hurry Here's our hallelujah To the only one who's worthy Standing in your presence Lord, we're in no hurry
You don't need our invitation You're already here
It's your glory all around Feels like heaven falling down Wherever you are is holy ground You're here with us now You're here with us now Oh it's your glory all around Feels like heaven falling down Wherever you are is holy ground You're here with us now Lord it's your glory all around
Here's our hallelujah To the only one who's worthy Standing in your presence Lord, we're in no hurry
There's no other place that I'd rather be Than right here with you and you here with me

Glory All Around
Meaning & Inspiration
There is a line in this NewSong track that sits heavy in my gut: “You don’t need our invitation / You’re already here.”
When I was out there, living in the dirt, I spent a lot of time thinking the Father was waiting for me to send a formal request. I thought I had to clean up the trash, put on a decent shirt, and find the right words to convince Him to show up. I was wrong. I was already covered in the stench of the pigpen, and He was standing in the middle of it. He didn’t need an invite. He was just waiting for me to stop running.
Hearing this now, it hits different. Most of the time, we treat God like a guest we have to prep the house for. We stress about the lighting, the music, the order of events. We think if we get the atmosphere just right, maybe He’ll decide to drop in. But the reality is much more scandalous than that. It’s like the Jacob moment at Bethel—he wakes up from a dream and says, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it” (Genesis 28:16). Jacob wasn't looking for a holy encounter; he was running for his life. And yet, there He was.
That’s the part that catches me. “Wherever you are is holy ground.”
It’s easy to feel holy inside four walls where everyone is singing along. But does the ground stay holy when I’m back in the mess of my own failures on a Tuesday morning? That’s where the smoke gets in your eyes. I look at my hands—still stained from where I’ve been—and I try to reconcile that with the idea of "glory." It doesn't make sense. It shouldn't be here. It should be somewhere cleaner.
But the song is right: He’s already here. He’s in the room before I even think to turn my head toward Him.
There’s another line: “Whatever you’re asking my answer is ‘yes’.”
I struggle with that one. Honestly, I do. My "yes" is usually small and guarded. I’m still learning how to trust that His "open arms" aren't just a trap. I’m still working through the fear that if I really give Him everything, I’ll end up back in the cold. But then I remember: He didn’t wait for my "yes" to come find me. He came while I was still saying "no" to everything good.
I’m standing in this space, listening to NewSong, and I’m in no hurry to leave. Not because I’ve got it all figured out, but because I’m finally realizing the door wasn't locked from the outside. I was just too afraid to push it open. He’s here. And for a guy like me, that’s enough to keep me breathing for one more day.
