Lyrics

Everyone needs compassion
A love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me

Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Saviour
The hope of nations

Saviour, he can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever Author of Salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as you find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again

I give my life to follow
Everything that I believe in
Now I surrender

Saviour, he can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever Author of Salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

Shine your light and let the whole world see
We're singing for the glory of the risen king Jesus

Shine your light and let the whole world see
We're singing for the glory of the risen king Jesus

Saviour, he can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever Author of Salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave(x2)

Shine your light and let the whole world see
We're singing for the glory of the risen king Jesus (x2)

Meaning & Inspiration

I keep coming back to that line about Him being the Author of Salvation, which feels so heavy when you think about it. It’s funny, because the song starts out so focused on our needs—mercy, forgiveness, just wanting to be found—and then it shifts to this massive image of mountains moving. It makes me think of how Jesus told His disciples that even small faith could shift a mountain, and here the song is placing all that power directly on Him, not our effort. It’s simple, maybe even a bit repetitive, but the weight of Him conquering the grave feels tied right back to the victory Paul talks about in Corinthians, where death just loses its sting because of what happened at the resurrection.

Sometimes I wonder if we make the "moving mountains" part sound too easy, though. Like, are we just asking for life to get comfortable? But then I look at the part where it says to take me "as you find me," and it changes things. It’s not about being perfect before you show up. It reminds me of the way God worked through people in the Bible who were clearly broken—people who had plenty of failures—and He just used them anyway. If He really is the one who conquered the grave, then my failures shouldn't be the thing that keeps me from Him, right? That’s what the song is reaching for, at least.

I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking the "everyone needs" part, but it’s interesting how it frames human nature. It starts with needing compassion, and I think that hits on the core of why anyone would even look toward a Savior in the first place. It feels honest to the idea that we’re empty vessels until His light starts shining. Still, I find myself wrestling with the tension between wanting Him to move mountains in my own life and the reality that sometimes, the mountains stay right where they are. Does "mighty to save" mean He changes the situation, or is it more about Him being enough even when the ground doesn't shake? I haven't quite settled that in my own head yet.
