Meaning & Inspiration
“Every Move I Make (Waves of Mercy)” by Hillsong UNITED is a short worship song about living in God. The lines say that every move, breath, and step is made in Him, and call Jesus “my way.” The repeated pattern turns ordinary movement into a prayer of dependence.
That language is close to Acts 17:28, “In Him we live and move and have our being,” and to John 14:6, where Jesus describes Himself as the way. The chorus then adds, “Waves of mercy, waves of grace, everywhere I look I see Your face,” which pictures God’s kindness as constant and surrounding.
The final lines are wonder at the love that has captured the singer: “Oh my God, this love, how can it be?” The song ends with wordless singing. Its message is dependence, gratitude, and awe at grace.
