Keith Wonderboy Johnson - Christmas Joy Lyrics

Christmas Joy celebrates the gladness of Christmas as something grounded in Christ rather than limited to holiday surroundings. Friends and familiar customs appear in the opening lines, but the song repeatedly returns to Jesus dwelling in the soul. That contrast gives the lyric a clear center: seasonal happiness is connected to faith in the Savior announced at Christ’s birth.

The call-and-response phrases and repeated declaration of Christmas joy suit communal gospel singing. As the lines narrow from the holiday to Christ in the heart, joy becomes an inward confession expressed outwardly through repetition. The language loosely reflects the angel’s announcement of good news and great joy at the birth of a Savior. It also recalls the New Testament theme of Christ dwelling in believers through faith. The closing return to the opening refrain gathers those ideas together, presenting Christmas joy as fellowship, celebration, and confidence in the presence of Jesus.
