About Gaither Vocal Band
The Gaither Vocal Band is an American Southern gospel vocal group founded in 1981 by songwriter and producer Bill Gaither. The ensemble originated spontaneously backstage before a Bill Gaither Trio concert. Originally known as the New Gaither Vocal Band from 1981 to 1985, the group quickly became recognized for its four-part harmonies and has featured a rotating lineup of vocalists over its history. The current lineup includes Bill Gaither, Wes Hampton, Adam Crabb, Todd Suttles, and Reggie Smith.
The group gained widespread popularity following the success of the Gaither Homecoming video series. Their recorded catalog includes songs such as “He Touched Me,” “Because He Lives,” “Sinner Saved By Grace,” and “I Believe In A Hill Called Mount Calvary.” Albums by the group include Better Together, Hymns, Then Came the Morning, and How Sweet It Is: Live In Concert.
The Gaither Vocal Band has been inducted into the Gospel Music Association’s Hall of Fame. The ensemble has received two Grammy Awards and 18 Dove Awards, in addition to earning multiple Grammy Award nominations. The group has performed at notable venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Sydney Opera House.
