Lyrics
Oh come, oh come,
Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel.
What child is this,
Who laid to rest,
On Mary's lad is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?
Rejoice, rejoice Emmanuel.
Shall come to thee oh Israel.
Oh come all ye faithful.
The first Noel.
Joyful and triumphant,
The angels did sing.
Oh come let us adore him.
Oh come let us adore him.
Oh come let us adore him, Christ.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Born is the king of Israel,
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel.
Fall on your knees.
Oh hear the angel voices.
Oh night divine,
Oh night, when Christ was born.
Oh night divine.
Silent night.

Meaning & Inspiration
Anthem Lights’ “Christmas Medley” gathers familiar carol lines into a compact account of expectation, nativity, and adoration. It begins with Israel’s longing for Emmanuel, then moves to the child resting with Mary as angels and shepherds attend the scene. The recurring call to rejoice connects promised deliverance with the birth of Christ. By placing these songs beside one another, the medley traces a movement from waiting to wonder and worship.
Its later sections summon the faithful to adore Christ, announce the King of Israel, and recall the night of his birth. Those images closely reflect the Gospel account of angels proclaiming good news to shepherds in Luke 2. The title Emmanuel also recalls Isaiah’s sign of a child bearing that name. Rather than developing a new narrative, the medley lets the shared themes of several carols reinforce one confession: the promised Savior has come, and his birth calls forth joy, reverence, and praise.
