Lyrics
Verse 1
Light of the world, You stepped down into darkness
Open my eyes, let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You
Chorus
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You're my God
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
Verse 2
King of all days, oh so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came to the Earth You created
All for love's sake became poor
Chorus
So, here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You're my God
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
Bridge
I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
And I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
Chorus
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You're my God
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me

Meaning & Inspiration
Here I Am To Worship is a song of adoration that responds to Jesus' coming and sacrifice. The first verse addresses the Light of the world who stepped into darkness, asks for open eyes to see the beauty that made the heart adore, and hope of a life spent with Him. The chorus offers worship, bowing down and a confession that He is God, altogether lovely, worthy and wonderful.
The second verse calls Him King of all days, highly exalted, who humbly came to the earth He created and became poor for love's sake, and the bridge confesses never knowing how much it cost to see sin upon the cross. The lyrics follow John 8:12, Philippians 2:5-8, 2 Corinthians 8:9 and Psalm 95:6, with Song of Solomon 5:16 behind altogether lovely. Simple and repeated, it works as a congregational act of worship.
