“You Sent Your Word” by Joyous Celebration is a South African gospel song of gratitude for Christ’s coming. The chorus says God sent His word to heal and sent His love and peace, then asks “How can I repay You?” and answers with “Oh Lord, how kind You are.”
That opening is close to Psalm 107:20, where God sent His word and healed, and John 1:14 on the Word becoming flesh. The verse continues with mercy flowing from above to save the soul. It says that while the singer was still in sin, Jesus came and died, which recalls Romans 5:8.
The next lines describe burdens so heavy that no rest could be found until Jesus came and set the singer free. The ending gives all the praise to Him and returns to the chorus. The song is a simple, grateful testimony of salvation and freedom.
