Meaning & Inspiration
“Amazing God” by Sonnie Badu is a Ghanaian praise song that thanks God for rescue and calls Him Amazing King. The first verse says He made the singer’s life beautiful, turned darkness into light and picked the singer up from the miry clay. The second verse says ten thousand words and a thousand tongues would not be enough to praise Him.
The chorus is a short cry of “Eee Yahweh,” followed by the repeated title, and the third verse calls Him an all in all, a well in the desert and King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The bridge speaks of troubles that come like floodgates, trusting that the Deliverer is there and will lift the singer up and set the singer free.
The lyrics are close to Psalm 40:2, Psalm 107:14 and Revelation 19:16, on being lifted from the miry clay, brought out of darkness and the title King of Kings.
