Guardian Angel - Yesu Sio Mwizi Lyrics

Lyrics

Oooh, oooh

Oooh, ooh

Yesu sio mwizi lakini

Ameuiba moyo yangu

Yesu si polisi anifunge

Ananibeba bembeleza

Yeye ni rafiki wa dhati

Akiahidi lazima atatenda

Yesu ni mfalme wa amani

Kuwa karibu na yeye natamani

Yesu sio mwizi lakini

Ameuiba moyo yangu

Yesu si polisi anifunge

Ananibeba bembeleza

Yeye ni rafiki wa dhati

Akiahidi lazima atatenda

Yesu ni mfalme wa amani

Kuwa karibu na yeye natamani

Yesu Yesu ni rafiki nimemuona dhabiti

Yesu Yesu rafiki, ahadi zake kweli

Yesu Yesu ni rafiki nimemuona dhabiti

Yesu Yesu rafiki, ahadi zake kweli

(Singing local)

Yesu Yesu ni rafiki nimemuona dhabiti

Yesu Yesu rafiki, ahadi zake kweli

Yesu Yesu ni rafiki nimemuona dhabiti

Yesu Yesu rafiki, ahadi zake kweli

Kumtegemea Yesu ni utamu sana

Kukubali neno lake raha moyoni

Kumtegemea Yesu ni utamu sana

Kwake daima nimepata uzima na amani

Kumtegemea Yesu ni utamu sana

Kukubali neno lake raha moyoni

Kumtegemea Yesu ni utamu sana

Kwake daima nimepata uzima na amani

Yesu Yesu ni rafiki nimemuona dhabiti

Yesu Yesu rafiki, ahadi zake kweli

Yesu Yesu ni rafiki nimemuona dhabiti

Yesu Yesu rafiki, ahadi zake kweli

Neno lake Bwana ni kweli na Amina

Ahadi zake kweli

Akiahidi kitu lazima atatenda

Ahadi zake kweli

Mungu ni mwaminifu ooh

Ahadi zake kweli

Ahadi za kweli

Ahadi zake kweli

Meaning & Inspiration

There is something kind of jarring about the way he starts by saying Jesus stole his heart. I had to stop for a second because it sounds a bit strange, but then I thought about how the prophets—like Jeremiah—talked about God seducing or overpowering them, and I guess that is what surrender feels like. It is not like a crime, obviously, but there is this sense of having no choice but to follow. When he sings about Jesus not being a policeman but someone who carries him, it hits differently. We spend so much time worried about being judged or locked up for our failures, yet the Scripture keeps insisting that we are actually invited into a friendship where we are held, not hunted. It’s like how John wrote that perfect love casts out fear, and honestly, the song captures that relief.

He keeps coming back to the idea that Jesus is a true friend who keeps His promises. I find myself wondering if I actually believe that on the hard days. It’s easy to sing about Him being faithful when things are fine, but the lyrics force me to look at the claim that His word is "Amen." It’s a bold thing to hang your whole life on—that He will do what He said. I’m sitting here thinking about those moments in the Bible where people waited years for a promise to show up, and here I am, maybe getting impatient after a week. Is He really that dependable? The song sounds so sure, almost like he’s trying to convince himself, or maybe just reminding his own spirit of what he has seen.

The part about finding life and peace by trusting Him—it’s simple, maybe too simple. It makes me question if I’m overcomplicating things by trying to do it all myself. If I really believed that His way is the only way to find rest, I think I’d act a lot less stressed out. There is this tension though, between the comfort of being carried and the weight of what it means to actually follow someone who has "stolen" your heart. It makes me feel a little exposed, honestly. I’m left wondering if I’m actually letting Him lead, or if I just like the idea of Him being near.
