Meaning & Inspiration
In this live recording of “Before the Throne,” Shekinah Glory sings of approaching God with praise and a request for wisdom. The lead and choir open with the same line, “Before the throne is where we come to offer praise and seek wisdom,” and proclaim that God has torn the veil that separates, so there is “no more outside now in Your grace.”
The imagery is close to Matthew 27:51, where the temple veil was torn, and Hebrews 10:19-22, which speaks of drawing near with confidence through Christ. The refrain bows at the throne room and casts down before His feet, crying “holy, thou art holy, there is none like thee,” which recalls Isaiah 6:3 and Revelation 4:8.
The lead then asks that hearts be prepared for service and cleansed, and the song closes in an extended ad lib of “In Your presence is where we must be.” Its message is access to God through grace, met with reverence and dependence.
