Meaning & Inspiration
Your Answer (In The Name) is a prayer to be made a living answer to the needs of others, followed by a chorus about the power of the name of Jesus. The opening lines ask that the heart be a reflection of Jesus and that the soul carry the hope of His truth, and the next lines turn to the lonely person in a crowd and the one unnoticed on a corner.
The prayer then borrows from the Lord's Prayer, asking for the kingdom to come, the will to be done and the name to be known among all people. The pre-chorus names Jesus as "Ransom for your people" and asks to be sent to proclaim, which echoes Mark 10:45 and Matthew 28:19-20. The chorus declares healing, freedom and power "in the name of Jesus," a thought tied to Acts 4:12 and Philippians 2:9-10. The structure moves from compassion to mission to praise, and the repeated name at the end gives the song a plain, focused close.
