Meaning & Inspiration
“Wa Ajabu” by Mercy Linah is a Swahili worship song, and the title means “You are wonderful” or “You are a God of wonders.” The first verse addresses God as the God of gods, exalted, and the maker of everything on earth and in heaven, and says the singers bow down. The chorus repeats that He is wonderful, the King of kings, enthroned, and worthy of worship.
The second verse gives glory, honor, power and thanks to God. The third calls Him holy and faithful, and uses the names El Shaddai, Adonai, and Alpha and Omega as the singers bow before Him. A short English line at the end translates the chorus: God of wonders, King of kings, the enthroned, we worship You.
The praise is close to Psalm 95:6, Revelation 5:12 and Revelation 22:13, which speak of bowing in worship, power, honor and glory being given to the Lamb, and Christ as the Alpha and the Omega. The song is brief and made for a congregation.
