Lyrics
I drove by Your house every day
But guilt always drove me away
I wanted so bad to be free
But shame is a powerful thing
Chorus:
I thought I belonged
Outside in the shadow of the steeple
'Til You came along
And You gave it all for me of all people
Verse 2:
How could You see every sin
And forgive me again and again
When others were scared of my scars
You welcomed me into Your arms
Chorus:
I thought I belonged
Outside in the shadow of the steeple
'Til You came along
And You gave it all for me of all people
Verse 3:
The cross on the top of that church
That was the cross I deserved
But instead, I'm a sinner set free
Oh, grace is a powerful thing
Chorus:
And now I belong
Inside the house that's underneath the steeple
'Cause You came along
And You gave it all for me of all people
