About Acappella
Acappella is an all-male contemporary Christian vocal group founded in 1982 by Keith Lancaster. The group is based in Paris, Tennessee, and performs exclusively in an a cappella style without instrumental accompaniment. It is associated with the Churches of Christ, a tradition that emphasizes vocal-only worship. Throughout its history, Keith Lancaster has served as the group’s primary songwriter, producer, and manager, and the ensemble has undergone numerous lineup changes since its inception.
Acappella built a catalog of recorded music beginning in the late 1980s. Releases include Sweet Fellowship (1988), Rescue (1990), We Have Seen His Glory (1990), Set Me Free (1993), and Hymns For All The World (from the 1990s). Later projects include Find Your Way (from the 2000s) and the album 40. One of the group’s known songs is “More Precious Than Gold.” The group has toured internationally, with performances in Africa, Australia, China, and Europe.
Acappella has received recognition for its vocal music. In 1994, the group won four Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARAs). The group later won the 2007 CARA Award for Best Religious Album for Radiance. In 2007, Acappella was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame.
