About Point of Grace
Point of Grace is an all-female vocal ensemble that formed in 1991 at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Originally a quartet, the group consisted of Shelley Breen, Denise Jones, Terry Jones, and Heather Payne. Their name was inspired by a C.S. Lewis quotation regarding Christians living at the “point of God’s grace.” Over the years, the lineup transitioned, and the group is now a trio with Breen, Denise Jones, and Leigh Cappillino.
The group released its self-titled debut album in 1993 and quickly established a presence in contemporary Christian music. Their catalog includes the songs “I’ll Be Believing,” “Steady On,” “Jesus Will Still Be There,” “Keep the Candle Burning,” and “How You Live (Turn Up the Music).” Later projects include Directions Home (2015) and Turn Your Eyes (Songs We Love, Songs You Know) Volume II (2023).
Point of Grace has been recognized with multiple Dove Awards, including New Artist of the Year (1993), Group of the Year (1999), and Enhanced CD of the Year for “Steady On” (1999). Their 2023 album Turn Your Eyes (Songs We Love, Songs You Know) Volume II won the Dove Award for Inspirational Album of the Year. The group has received three Grammy Award nominations and earned two Platinum and five Gold-certified projects from the RIAA. They are counted among the best-selling artists in contemporary Christian music, with over eight million career album sales and twenty-seven number-one singles on Christian music charts. In 2018, Point of Grace was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. Beyond recording, the group has been involved in initiatives such as the Girls of Grace conference for teen girls.
