Lyrics
Verse 1
Eve ate an apple, the Prodigal left home
Moses looked for paradise, forty years he roamed
I guess I'm just another searcher for something better out there
Oh, but every time my crooked lines lead me right back here
Chorus
If all I have is You, I have all I need
Jesus, nothing else comes close
You can have this world, give me just one thing
If all I have is You, I have all I need
Verse 2
The world is a desert that left me begging for a raindrop
But Your love's a fountain that will never run dry
We're all down here trying to fill up this empty
But there's only one thing that can satisfy
Chorus
If all I have is You, I have all I need
Jesus, nothing else comes close
You can have this world, give me just one thing
If all I have is You, I have all I need
Post-Chorus
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh
Verse 3
Eve ate an apple, the Prodigal left home
There's a long line of broken people, so I guess I'm not alone
Through all my foolish wandering, You've been patient, You've been kind
And I finally see what You've been trying to tell me all this time
Chorus
If all I have is You, I have all I need
Jesus, nothing else comes close
You can have this world, give me just one thing
If all I have is You, I have all I need
If all I have is You, I have all I need
If all I have is You, I have all I need

Meaning & Inspiration
All I Need is a worship song about finding that Jesus is enough. The first verse lists searchers in the Bible and in life: Eve eating the apple, the prodigal leaving home and Moses looking for paradise during forty years of wandering. It admits being another searcher for something better, but every time the crooked lines lead back to Him. The chorus says that if all the singer has is Jesus, nothing else is needed, nothing else comes close, and the world can be given away for that one thing.
The second verse contrasts a desert world that leaves people begging for a raindrop with a love that is a fountain that never runs dry, and says that only one thing can fill the emptiness. The third verse recalls a long line of broken people and thanks Him for patience and kindness through foolish wandering. The themes follow John 4:14 on never thirsting again, Psalm 73:25-26 on God as the strength of the heart, and Philippians 3:8 on counting everything as loss. The warm, steady chorus gives the song a settled, grateful tone.
