Meaning & Inspiration
Supernatural Love is a song about the transforming power of God's love. The verses describe His love growing in the singer and changing them into something new, transforming thinking and perception, being kind, patient and strong, and making the singer like Him. The pre-chorus quotes "Faith, hope, love remain, but the greatest of these is love" from 1 Corinthians 13:13, and the chorus names this love as flowing from the Father's heart.
A later section declares that shame is erased, every debt paid in His blood, fear forgotten and dead things brought back to life by love, which echoes Colossians 2:14, 1 John 4:18 and Ephesians 2:4-5. The love that is kind and patient matches 1 Corinthians 13:4. Repeated lines and a building structure make the song a congregational statement of what love does.
