Lyrics
Intro
(Brothers and sisters
I wanna welcome You back to life
Back to the one
That could make Your next chapter
Your best chapter
Hallelujah)
Verse 1
How can it be
That You love the most unlovable part of me
Of me
How did You see
Your life was the only gift I'll ever need
To be free
It's amazin' with You
I win even if I lose
Everything's working for my good for always
Pre-Chorus
(Come on)
He saves the day (Wooo)
He will come through
He won't fail
That's not what superheroes do (Hallelujah)
No greater love makes my heart beat
All I wanna do is make You proud of me
Chorus
(That's why)
I don't wanna love nobody but You
I don't wanna love nobody but You
I don't wanna love nobody, love nobody but You
(Hmmm, let's go)
Verse 2
How can it be
Everyone of my secrets that You'll keep (You cover me)
You cover me
(I appreciate it)
A mystery (it's amazing how)
Your patience with me that will never leave (You don't give up on me)
Don't ever leave
(Help me)
Help me to see like You (like You)
No matter what I go through (hey)
Everything's working for my good for always
Pre-Chorus
(Let me tell You what He does)
He saves the day (and He will)
He will come through (Hallelujah)
He won't fail
That's not what super heroes do
(Not real superheroes)
No greater love (a love like this) makes my heart beat
(Ha, and I promise You)
All I wanna do is make You proud of me

Meaning & Inspiration
“Love Theory” by Kirk Franklin is an upbeat gospel song of devotion with spoken lines throughout. A spoken opening welcomes the listener back to life and to the one who can make the next chapter the best. The verse asks how it can be that God loves “the most unlovable part of me,” and says that His life was the only gift the singer would need to be free.
The pre-chorus claims that everything is working for good, a line close to Romans 8:28, and says that He saves the day and will not fail, “that’s not what superheroes do.” The chorus is a simple vow: “I don’t wanna love nobody but You.”
The second verse thanks God for keeping secrets and for patience that never leaves. A later spoken section says that loving Him will be “the death of me,” and sums up the idea as “More of You, less of me,” which echoes John 3:30. The song ends with the vow repeated.
