About JJ Heller
JJ Heller (born Jennifer Judy Kellner on October 19, 1980) is an American Christian folk singer-songwriter. Raised in San Jose, California, she attended San Jose Christian College, now known as William Jessup University. Her music is gentle, introspective, and folk-oriented, often exploring themes of faith, family, and everyday life.
Heller has worked as a full-time musician for over twenty-three years, collaborating professionally with her husband, Dave Heller, who serves as her guitarist, co-writer, and producer. Together, they built an independent career marked by a steady creative output. Since 2017, Heller has released new singles on the first Friday of each month, a consistent schedule that has helped her connect directly with listeners. Her catalog now includes more than 350 original and cover songs, which have collectively earned over one billion streams.
Early career highlights include the songs “Your Hands” (2008) and “What Love Really Means” (2010), both of which reached number 13 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart. Her album When I’m with You (2010) peaked at number 33 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. Other notable releases include Painted Red (2009), Only Love Remains (2006), Sound of a Living Heart (2015), and the Christmas project Unto Us (2016).
In recent years, Heller has become known for her “I Dream of You” series, which features orchestral lullabies and re-imagined songs. A 2024 installment, I Dream of You: HYMNS, continues that thread, offering gentle renditions of classic hymns. Through her partnership with her husband and her steady, digital-first approach, JJ Heller has built a catalog that resonates with listeners seeking calm, faith-rooted music.
