Lecrae Devaughn Moore, born October 9, 1979, in Houston, Texas, is a rapper, singer-songwriter, record producer, and executive who has become a prominent figure in Christian hip-hop. He co-founded the independent record label Reach Records in 2004 and is a member of the hip-hop collective 116, which he also co-founded.
Lecrae's early releases established his voice in Christian music. His debut album Real Talk arrived in 2004, followed by After the Music Stops in 2006 and Rebel in 2008. Rebel made history as the first Christian hip-hop album to peak at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. His 2012 album Gravity won the Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album, making Lecrae the first hip-hop artist to win in that category. He would go on to win a total of four Grammy Awards, including Best Contemporary Christian Music Album in 2024.
In 2014, Lecrae released Anomaly, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It became the first album to simultaneously top both the Billboard 200 and the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. That same year, his single “Messengers” featured the duo for KING & COUNTRY. He later released the single “I'll Find You” with Tori Kelly in 2017 and the project Church Clothes 4 in 2022. Beyond music, Lecrae is a New York Times best-selling author, having published his memoir Unashamed in 2016. He has also been active in philanthropic efforts, including work with organizations in Atlanta. Over his career, Lecrae has won ten GMA Dove Awards, further cementing his impact in Christian music.
