Lyrics

Oh oh oh oh oh

This is for the busted heart
This is for the question mark
This is for the outcast soul
Lost control, no one knows
Sing it for the can't-go-backs
Sing it for the broken past
Sing it for the just found out
Life is now upside down

If you're looking for hope tonight, raise your hand
If you feel alone and don't understand
If you're fighting in the fight of your life, then stand
We're going to make it through this hand in hand

And if we fall, we will fall together
Together

This is for the second chance
This is for the new romance
Sing it for the loved in vain, overcame
It's not too late

If you're looking for hope tonight, raise your hand
If you feel alone and don't understand
If you're fighting in the fight of your life, then stand
We're going to make it through this hand in hand

And if we fall, we will fall together
Together
When we rise, we will rise together
Together

Ohhh ohhh ohhh ohhh
(We will rise together)

(Listen)
If you're looking for hope tonight
(And you're all alone)
If you're feeling alone tonight
(Can you feel)
If you're in the fight of your life
(I can promise)
We're gonna make it happen, yeah
I will be by your side
(By your side)
Cause love's in the air tonight
(Can you feel it)
Come up and see the light
whenever ever ever
Just as long as we're together, say

If we fall, we will fall together
(I got you my brother)
Together
(I see you my sister)
When we rise, we will rise together
Together

If we fall, we will fall together
(Take my hand)
Together
(Help me stand)
When we rise, we will rise together
(We will rise together)
Together

Together we are dangerous
Together with our differences
Together we are bolder, braver, stronger

Story Behind Together - For King & Country

“This is a song that we wrote for the last record Burn The Ships, but we didn’t finish it in time to make the record. What’s ironic is the song was kind of shelved. Fast forward to where we are now and I find it amazing that a song we couldn’t finish back then is really dealing with the core issues in regards to what I think a lot of people are struggling with right now. They feel isolated, they feel like they’re lonely. Most of the time you have these things take place in your countries, your towns or whatever but this is something that’s actually happening around the world. There’s a lyric in the song that says ‘if we fall’ and we’ve all fallen; everybody knows somebody that has fallen significantly. We have this opportunity coming up of how we will rise. Our hope is the narrative can be hey this took place in 2020 and what an unbelievable difficult thing it was for the world but look what good came out of it because we actually united over commonalities instead of trying to find our differences.” – Luke Smallbone (for KING & COUNTRY)

Meaning & Inspiration

The release of "Together" by for KING & COUNTRY, featuring the incredible talents of Tori Kelly and Kirk Franklin, on May 1, 2020, arrived as a beacon of hope during a time when the world felt increasingly fractured. This single, born from a shared desire to uplift and connect, powerfully articulates a message of unity, resilience, and the enduring strength found in communal support, echoing the profound biblical call to love one another and bear one another’s burdens. The song speaks directly to our innate human need for connection, particularly when faced with adversity, reminding us that our individual struggles are not meant to be borne in isolation. Its core message resonates deeply with the teachings found throughout Scripture, such as in Philippians 2:4, which encourages us to "look not only to your own interests, but each of you to the interests of the others." This sentiment is amplified by the collaborative spirit of the artists, whose distinct voices blend seamlessly to underscore the power of diverse individuals coming together for a common purpose. The very essence of "Together" is a testament to the biblical principle articulated in Galatians 6:2, which urges believers to "carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ." In a world often characterized by division, this song serves as a vibrant reminder that our collective strength, when rooted in empathy and shared faith, can overcome any obstacle. It encourages a proactive stance of reaching out, of offering a hand, and of finding solace and power in the knowledge that we are not alone, mirroring the promise in Matthew 18:20: "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." The song’s unwavering focus on unity in the face of challenges offers a profound spiritual encouragement, prompting listeners to consider how they can actively contribute to a more connected and supportive community, reflecting the very heart of the Gospel.
