“Usikiaye Maombi” by Kathy Praise is a song of confidence in prayer sung in English and Swahili. The first verse says there is a God in heaven who hears all prayers and answers them, and it adds that whenever people pray, He hears and He answers. The second verse repeats the same message in Swahili, “Yupo Mungu mbinguni, ayajibuye maombi yetu.”
The chorus is the center of the song. It addresses God directly as the one who hears prayers and answers with fire, and it declares Him a faithful Lord. The phrase “answers by fire” recalls Elijah’s prayer on Mount Carmel, where fire came down in answer.
