Meaning & Inspiration
Mbingu Zahubiri is a Swahili setting of Psalm 19. The opening lines say that the heavens declare God's glory and the sky proclaims the work of His hands, that day speaks to day and night shows knowledge to night, and that God made all things, including all that is lovely.
The repeated chorus uses the closing prayer of the psalm: that the words of the mouth and the thoughts of the heart would find favor before the Lord, the rock and redeemer. The middle verse lists the law, testimony, precepts and commandment of the Lord and what each does, including refreshing the soul, making the simple wise, gladdening the heart and giving light to the eyes.
