Lyrics
What compares, to what God has said
I will stand by the word that He says about me
That He has plans, plans to prosper me
And His word is a light to sustain and keep me
He cares for you
He'll carry you through
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Like a flood His mercy rains
Give your heart to the Lord who cares for you
As He died we were resurrected
So we took good walk in the newness of life
He cares for you
He'll carry you through
He cares for you
He'll carry you through
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
He's the author and He's the finisher
He's the author and the finisher
Author, Finisher
Author, Finisher
(repeat *8)
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
God did it more than two thousand years ago
He didn't just make you a conqueror over your situation
He didn't just make you a conqueror over your hurt
He didn't just make you a conqueror over your pain
But He made you more than a conqueror
He made you more than a conqueror
So we will conqueror whatever it is
It has no power over us
So if you're going through something right now
You can take it proudly and boldly
And just surround with God's word and grace
And just surround with God's word and grace
God made sure that you don't have to cry
God made sure that you don't have to be in lack
God made sure that you don't have to be in hurt
You don't have to go through it
He loves you
He loves you so much
He loves you so much
He sold it all out
He's got it all out
Trust in Him today
So let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
Let it go, give it to your God
He wants to serve you
He wants to heal you
Because He's the only author

Meaning & Inspiration
“Let It Go” centers on surrendering fear, pain, and lack to God rather than allowing hardship to govern the believer’s outlook. Its recurring appeal to give every burden to God is supported by images of divine care, mercy, guidance, and sustaining grace. The verses connect trust with God’s word, describing it as light and presenting God as the one who carries people through distress. The repeated refrain gives the song a simple prayerful focus without minimizing the troubles named later in the lyrics.
The song also places hope in Christ’s death and resurrection, newness of life, and victory over suffering. Its description of God as author and finisher closely echoes the language of Hebrews, while the promise of prospering plans recalls Jeremiah’s message to the exiles. These biblical allusions support a theme of endurance rooted in God’s character. The result is a worship song about releasing control, trusting divine care, and facing painful circumstances with confidence in the grace of God.
