Meaning & Inspiration
“Tumi Wura (Power in the Name of Jesus)” by Joe Mettle, from the Wind of Revival recording, is a Twi and English worship chant that names what is found in God. Each line is followed by an English gloss: “Tumi wo wo mu,” there is power in You; “Nyansa wo wo mu,” there is wisdom in You; and “Ahoden we wo mu,” there is strength in You. The matching lines call Him the sovereign God, the only wise God, and the Lord strong and mighty.
These attributes are close to Romans 16:27 and 1 Timothy 1:17, which speak of the only wise God, and to Psalm 24:8, which calls the Lord strong and mighty. The song then moves to the name of Jesus, declaring that there is power, healing, and deliverance in it, which recalls Acts 4:12 and Philippians 2:9-10.
