Meaning & Inspiration
“Yahweh” by Hillsong Worship is a short worship song built around the name of God. The first verse says that God lives forever and reigns in power and love, and calls the earth to bow before Him because He is exalted. The chorus responds: “We look to Yahweh, forever Yahweh.”
The second verse names God Almighty as the singer’s hope and says that His love is greater than all, calling listeners to lift high the God of heaven and give Him honor. The language is close to Psalm 33:20-22, which speaks of hope in the Lord, and Psalm 97:9 on His exaltation.
The bridge repeats “He shall reign forever and ever,” echoing Exodus 15:18 and Revelation 11:15. The song ends by returning to the chorus, “Our hope is Yahweh.” It is a plain congregational declaration of God’s reign.
