Verse 1

Patiently waiting for a time
When You take me
Take me to the place where I belong
Where it all started
Where the angels sing in tongues
(Holy Ghost chant)

Pre-Chorus

Earnestly waiting, patiently waiting
For the day You come and take us home Lord
Earnestly waiting, desperately waiting
For my groom the one who loves me dearly ah

Chorus

Heaven at last, heaven at last
Heaven at last that's what we will sing on that day
Heaven at last, heaven at last
(Holy Ghost chant)

Verse 2

Patiently waiting for a time
When You take me
Take me to the place where I belong
Where it all started
Where the angels sing in melody
Hallelujah Hallelujah!

Pre-Chorus (Repeat)

Earnestly waiting, patiently waiting
For the day You come and take us home Lord
Earnestly waiting, patiently waiting
For my groom the one who loves me dearly ah

Chorus (Repeat)

Heaven at last, heaven at last
Heaven at last, heaven at last

Outro

Get ready, get ready
Oh ye saints of God above
Get ready, get ready
He'll be riding in the cloud

Meaning & Inspiration

“Heaven at Last” by Minister GUC is a song of longing for the return of Christ and the home that follows. The verses speak of waiting patiently for the time when the Lord takes the singer to the place of belonging, where angels sing. The pre-chorus is a more urgent wait, for the day He comes and takes His people home, and for “my groom, the one who loves me dearly.” The bridal picture is close to Revelation 19:7 and Matthew 25:1-10.

The chorus is the cry “Heaven at last,” which the song says is what will be sung on that day. The hope of being taken to a place of belonging echoes John 14:2-3, where Jesus promises to prepare a place and come again to receive His people.

The ending is a warning and an invitation: “Get ready, oh ye saints of God above, he’ll be riding in the cloud,” which recalls 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. The song’s message is patient, eager hope for the Lord’s return and a call to be ready.
