Minister GUC - God is Helping Lyrics
Lyrics
When You see a man that is helped by God
You'll see His glory all over him
When You see a man that is loved by God
You'll see His glory all over him
And You'll know that
The God we serve is not a joker
And then You'll know
The God we serve is not a scam
He's not a scam
He's not a joker
He's not a scam
I'm sure You know
The God we serve He's not a joker
When You see a man that is helped by God
You'll see His glory all over him
When You see a man that is loved by God
You'll see His beauty all over him
And then You'll know
The God we serve is not a scam
I'm sure You know
The God we serve is not a scam
I'm sure You know
The God we serve He's not a joker
He’s not a scam, He’s not a joker
He is not a scam
He’s not a Scam, He’s not a joker
He is not a scam
I’m sure you know
The God we serve is not a Joke
I’m sure you know
The God we serve is not a Scam
God, God, God, God, God
I know you’re not a scam
Let them keep talking
I know you’re not a scam
I’m sure you know
The God we serve is not a joke
I’m sure you know
The God we serve is not a scam
God is helping us, God is helping Us
God is helping us, God is helping Us
I’m sure you know
The God I Serve is not a joke
I’m sure you know, I’m sure you know
He’s not a Scam
God

Meaning & Inspiration
I keep thinking about the line where GUC says God is not a scam or a joker. It’s a bit jarring, honestly. We don't usually talk about the Creator of the universe in those terms, but I guess when you've been through a season where nothing seems to make sense or work out, you start looking for proof. The song keeps circling back to this idea that if someone is truly helped by God, you’ll just see it on them—like His glory is something you can physically point to. It pulls up that old thought from the psalms about how the Lord lifts up the head of the humble, but then I stop and wonder if we’re putting too much weight on the visible result.
Scripture talks about the glory of God being revealed in our weakness, not just our success. Paul was pretty clear that his own life was marked by suffering, and he still carried the light of Christ. So, when the song says you’ll see the glory of God all over a man who is being helped, does that only count when things are going well? If I’m struggling or feeling abandoned, does that mean God isn't "helping" or that His glory isn't present? I want to believe the song is just celebrating faithfulness, and there’s a real joy in knowing that God is active in our lives, but the phrasing makes me uncomfortable. It feels like it’s setting up a standard where you can measure God’s reality by the outward appearance of the person He’s helping. I’m not sure that aligns with how Christ lived or what He promised us, which was more about taking up a cross than avoiding the appearance of being "scammed" by life. I’m left wondering if we’re confusing the kindness of God with our own need for constant validation.
