“2 Step the Enemy” by Forrest Frank is an upbeat, playful take on spiritual warfare, in which the singer answers the devil’s “overtime” work with dancing rather than fear. The chorus draws a line: “I won’t dance with the devil, but I will 2 step the enemy.” It also sets the Holy Spirit against drink, saying the only spirit needed is the holy one, who is “living in me” and moving “through my feet all night long.”
The verses root that joy in the resurrection. The singer claps for the one who “walked right out that grave,” says the Son set them free, and describes sin that was heavy until “the grave was left empty.” The bridge turns it into a dance-floor invitation, with “drunk on the holy ghost” and a raised glass for a toast.
