About Koryn Hawthorne
Koryn Mattanah Hawthorne is a professional singer signed to RCA Inspiration, a label dedicated to gospel music, and is widely recognized for her work in contemporary Christian and gospel genres. Born on December 26, 1997, in Abbeville, Louisiana, she first rose to prominence as a finalist on season eight of NBC’s The Voice, where she placed fourth as a member of Pharrell Williams’s team. That national exposure launched a career marked by a distinctive blend of gospel with elements of R&B, pop, and hip-hop.
Hawthorne’s debut studio album, Unstoppable, was released in 2018 and reached number one on the Top Gospel Albums chart. The album’s lead single, “Won’t He Do It,” became a signature song in her catalog. She followed with additional releases including the album I AM and the singles “Speak to Me,” “Pray,” “Look At God,” and “Enough.” Another album, On God, also appears in her discography. In 2023, she appeared in the film Praise This.
Hawthorne’s work has earned significant industry recognition. “Won’t He Do It” won Contemporary Gospel/Urban Recorded Song of the Year at the 49th GMA Dove Awards and Top Gospel Song at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. The song was also certified Gold by the RIAA. At the 2019 NAACP Image Awards, Unstoppable won Outstanding Gospel Album, and the music video for “Won’t He Do It” won Music Video of the Year at the 2019 Stellar Gospel Music Awards. Additionally, Hawthorne has received multiple Grammy Award nominations for her gospel recordings.
