About Jonathan McReynolds
Jonathan McReynolds is a contemporary gospel artist, songwriter, and educator from Chicago, Illinois. He was born on September 17, 1989, and launched his music career in 2012 with the debut album Life Music. Over the years, he has built a catalog that includes albums such as Life Music: Stage Two (2015), Make Room (2018), People (2020), and My Truth (2023), along with songs like “Movin’ On,” “Not Lucky, I’m Loved,” and “Grace.”
Alongside his music, McReynolds has pursued a strong academic and ministry foundation. He earned a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Moody Theological Seminary in 2015 and served as an adjunct professor at Columbia College Chicago. He also founded the nonprofit organization Elihu Nation, which provides scholarships to support students.
McReynolds’ work has been recognized with numerous honors. He won Best Gospel Performance/Song at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards for “Movin’ On” and has received 15 Stellar Awards and 4 GMA Dove Awards. He was also presented with the BMI Champion’s Award. Beyond performing and recording, he has expanded into other creative spaces. He starred in the 2021 BET original movie Favorite Son and served as a judge on the BET television series Sunday Best. He is also the author of the book Before You Climb Any Higher: Valley Wisdom for Mountain Dreams.
