“Show Up (Reprise)” by Ema Onyx is a plea for God to act in a situation where the singer has run out of options. It begins with a plain request, “Jesus, I need you right now,” and the chorus repeats “Show up” until it becomes a prayer in its own right, adding “Show up in my case.”
The verse uses Igbo phrases, “Kulie Eze” and “Kulie n’ibu Dike,” which ask the King and the Mighty One to arise. They are paired with English lines asking Him to do what no man can do, to speak what no man can speak, and to touch the singer’s life once more. The singer admits having no one else to run to and calls on His mercy.
