Meaning & Inspiration
“Lord, Your Mercy” by Dr Paul Enenche is a thanksgiving built on one repeated word. Each line of the verse names something mercy does: it spares life “all the time,” brings wholeness in need, wins battles against the foe, and shapes the whole of the singer's life. Later lines add that mercy favors the singer everywhere, makes a difference, and gives answers to life's questions.
The second part turns thanks into dependence: “I thank You for Your mercy, 'cause I depend on Your mercy. Lord, I rely on Your kindness for my life in the earth.” That language is close to Lamentations 3:22-23, which says the LORD's mercies never fail, and to Psalm 136:1 on His enduring mercy.
The outro repeats the thanks several times, which gives the song the feel of a congregational prayer. The thought that mercy makes up a whole life echoes Psalm 23:6 and Ephesians 2:4-5. The message is plain: everything good in the singer's life is credited to God's mercy.
