Meaning & Inspiration
This Don Moen recording joins two worship songs, “I Stand in Awe of You” and “I Sing Praises to Your Name.” The first part is a hymn of wonder. It calls God “beautiful beyond description, too marvellous for words,” and asks, “Who can grasp Your infinite wisdom? Who can fathom the depth of Your love?” Those questions are close to Romans 11:33, which marvels at the depth of God’s wisdom and knowledge.
The chorus answers in the posture of worship: “I stand in awe of You,” with the added line “Holy God, to whom all praise is due.” The second song moves from awe to praise. Its repeated line, “For Your Name is great and greatly to be praised,” echoes Psalm 96:4 and Psalm 48:1.
