Meaning & Inspiration
“Holy Forever” by CeCe Winans is a worship song that joins the voices of every generation in praise of the Lamb. The opening pictures “a thousand generations falling down in worship,” including all who have gone before and all who will believe, singing “the song of ages to the Lamb.” The chorus has the angels and all creation crying “Holy,” and ends each round with “Holy forever.”
The imagery is close to Revelation 4:8 and 5:11-13, where heavenly beings and all creation praise the Lamb. The lines “Your name is the highest… all thrones and dominions, all powers and positions” echo Philippians 2:9-11 and Colossians 1:16.
