TobyMac, born Kevin Michael McKeehan on October 22, 1964, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer who has been a prominent figure in contemporary Christian music for decades. He first gained attention as a founding member of the Christian rap-rock trio DC Talk, which formed in 1987 at Liberty University. After the group went on hiatus in 2000, TobyMac launched a successful solo career with his debut album Momentum in 2001. His road band is known as Diverse City.
Over the course of his solo career, TobyMac has sold more than 16 million albums. His 2012 album Eye on It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, one of the few Christian albums to achieve that milestone. He has released multiple studio albums, including Tonight (2010), This Is Not a Test (2015), The Elements (2018), and Life After Death (2022). His music blends rap, rock, pop, and soul, and he has consistently charted on Christian music charts.
TobyMac is a seven-time Grammy Award winner and has received 24 GMA Dove Awards. Several of his songs have earned RIAA certifications: "Speak Life" and "City On Our Knees" are certified Platinum, while "Help Is On The Way (Maybe Midnight)" is certified Gold. He also received a Pandora Billionaires Plaque for surpassing one billion streams.
